Maia Muttoo
Education Manager Maia Muttoo joined NGCI in January 2020. Reporting to the Director, this role supports overall community engagement with NGCI’s collections, exhibitions, programmes and initiatives through the development, implementation and evaluation of a busy schedule of public programmes.
The role combines Maia’s experience in programming and events with her love for arts, culture and community. Before joining NGCI, Maia worked as a full-time writer for a regional media group where she collaborated creatively to produce compelling content for print and digital platforms across the Caribbean. Prior to this, she spent three years as an event coordinator at a large corporation executing a wide range of events for both internal and external clients. This followed two years at Cayman’s national museum, where she led the organisation’s education programmes, acted as public relations liaison, and supported the curatorial team by developing exhibition materials.
Maia holds a Master’s degree in Cultural and Creative Industries from King’s College London and a Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Toronto. In addition to her academic achievements, Maia has been extensively involved in the Cayman Islands’ art community through her work in film, theatre, writing and cultural volunteer initiatives.
