Rachel Christ

Rachel began learning the intricate and complex skills of the craft of a silversmith at the Nova Gallery in Chiang Mai, Thailand. She served an apprenticeship under the watchful eye of Nagoon where she developed a bohemian, elegant and confident style, creating designs of lasting beauty from mainly organic, natural stones. She set up her studio in South Sound, Grand Cayman in 2005 and it is here that she transforms enchanting gemstones and precious metals into bold, unique designs which exude an elegant style. Her inspiration comes from her exposure to the various cultures she meets during her travels in Southeast Asia. “I soak up all of my creative energy while I am traveling in Southeast Asia, whether it be at a market searching for stones and materials, in a temple or simply walking the streets. I am most alive when I am there and feel that when I am designing my jewellery some of that energy goes into each piece that I create.”

Q & A

Where are you from?

United States/Caymanian

When did you start creating your products and what are your preferred materials?

I started designing and creating jewellery in 2002. I work with semi-precious stones, freshwater pearls and .925 silver.

What inspires you to create your products?

I am inspired by different cultures and traditions from all over the world. I enjoy taking elements from the past and creating something with a more modern feel that can be worn for years to come.

What do you think are the most important and unique characteristics of the products you create?

My designs are meant to be staples that can be worn both casually and with a little black dress on an evening out. They are all handcrafted and individually made with stones that have been handpicked for their beauty and character. Every material used has been carefully selected and customised to highlight the natural beauty of the stones, which in turn makes every piece unique and exceptional. I strive to transform enchanting gemstones and precious metals into bold, unique designs which exude an elegant style.

What do you expect for your creative future?

I hope that I can continue to create beautiful pieces of jewellery to be appreciated and worn by women of all ages.
