Carol Owen

b. 1948

Carol Owen came to the Cayman Islands in 1995 as the wife of former Governor John Wynne Owen, CBE. During her time in Cayman she founded NGCI in 1997, for which she was awarded an MBE in 2000. Owen acquired a BA (Honours) from Portsmouth College of Art and studied art teaching at Manchester University. In addition to landscapes, Owen has painted many portraits, and her sitters have included Anne, HRH The Princess Royal, whose portrait is permanently displayed at the Guildhall Art Gallery in the City of London. Her work has been exhibited at NGCI in the exhibitions All Access (2015) and Tropical Visions (2019).
