About the Artist
Saba

b. 1965

A self-taught artist, Saba (born Csaba Korsos) moved to the Cayman Islands in 1992 to teach and was immediately inspired by Caymanian heritage, maritime scenes and local flora, which remain central themes in his work. Initially he began painting as a hobby, until he received second prize in the Cayman Islands National Museum’s competition Wreck of the Ten Sails (1994). Career highlights include first prize in the Visual Art Society’s competition Dramatic Light in Artwork (1998) and an Artist of the Year nomination by What’s Hot magazine (2002). Key exhibitions include Art Miami with the Kensington-Lott Fine Art Gallery (2003) and annual exhibitions at Kennedy Gallery in Grand Cayman. His work is in the permanent collections of NGCI and the Cayman Islands National Museum, and was featured in the NGCI exhibitions All Access (2015) and Saltwater in their Veins (2017).
