Grimes’s landscapes are created with acrylics or oils, and the smoothness and flow of her brushstrokes show how adept she has become with both media. She sketches “en plein air” studies before transforming them into formal paintings in her studio, where she creates compositions based on naturally abstract elements found in the landscape. This particular painting depicts the wild beauty of Barker’s National Park in West Bay, capturing the scene’s ever-changing light and colours.
