A Summer of Art: Clay Creations
06:00 pm-08:00 pmDescription
A Summer of Art • Constructing with Clay
1 August 2017, 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
In this activity students will learn how handle clay material and ceramic tools. Student will construct basic vessels by making slabs and placing them together. Students will learn about contemporary American ceramicists such as Bede Clarke, Erica Iman and Scott McClellan. The goal of this activity is to show students how these artists have explored new ways of creating traditional pottery vessels. We also want to allow students to become comfortable with using clay media. After the activity is over, the students will leave their clay vessels behind and the Gallery instructors will fire the works in their kiln. The Gallery instructors will inform the parents when they can come retrieve their children’s ceramics after the firing is completed.
