Description

A Summer of Art • Ink Painting
6 July 2017, 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM

In this activity students will make ink paintings and learn how to create density, or complex compositions, by layering multiple techniques for ink painting that will be taught to them by the Gallery instructors. This activity is inspired by contemporary West African artist, Marlene Dumas and contemporary Chinese Artist, Lampo Leong. Marlene Dumas uses ink paintings to create portraits and Lampo Leong uses ink paintings to create atmospheric landscapes. The goal of this activity is to teach students new techniques for ink painting and to increase their confidence in using art materials for making images. At the end of this activity the students will combine their drawings together for a group photograph and then take their paintings home with them to share with their family and friends.
