A Summer of Art: Learning Density with Tempera Paint
06:00 pm-08:00 pmDescription
A Summer of Art • Learning Density with Tempera Paint
3 August 2017, 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
In this activity students will learn how to create density- or full, complex images- with the tempera paint medium. Students will be shown how to create different applications with tempera paint and they will also learn how to make their paintings look 3-dimensional by creating tones, tints and shades of pure colors. The students will use the techniques they use to make a landscape image. This activity is inspired by Cuban artist, Wifredo Lam who worked throughout the 20th century. Lam created dense paintings that had a unique style and mixed aspects of human, animal and plant life. At the end of this activity students will be able to take their paintings home with them where they can continue to use the techniques they were taught.
