Exhibition The Art of Fashion will showcase Caymanian Fashion Designers Isy B and Jawara Alleyne who have been commissioned by the National Gallery to create new collections inspired by works from the National Art Collection. The designers were given free rein to explore the Collection during the research phase and have ultimately selected approximately twelve artworks that will become the foundation of their collections. Both designers have expressed an interest in tracing the artistic history of the Cayman Islands, from early intuitive art by Gladwyn ‘Miss Lassie’ Bush and Charles Long, through to the emergence of the Native Sons, and on to the critically engaged contemporary art that is being practiced today.
