Exhibition
Watercolour is a medium that has become synonymous with the early development of the visual arts in the Cayman Islands. As an art form capable of producing an astonishing variety of effects, from subtle atmospheric washes to brilliant tropical hues, it is perfectly suited to capturing the light and palette of the Caymanian landscape.
A Legacy of Light offered the chance to see rarely displayed works in all their luminous colours from the early collections of both the National Gallery and the National Museum. Featuring landscapes, seascapes, and architectural studies by established as well as lesser-known artists, the exhibition paid homage to our cultural heritage and celebrates our unique natural environment.
