Exhibition
Azure Dreams was a solo exhibition featuring a selection of abstract paintings by Zoë Blount. The artworks embodied the artist’s enthusiasm for nature and the outdoors, to which Blount frequently turned as a source of inspiration for her artistic practice. Embracing immersive experiences such as snorkelling, water sports, and nature hikes, Blount’s adventurous and free-spirited personality was reflected through her distinct style of mark-making, evocative colour palette, and unique compositions.
Inspired by the New York Abstract Expressionists of the 1950s, as well as the Impressionists and Fauves of the early twentieth century, Blount’s characteristic use of rich blues, greens, and yellows paid homage in this exhibition to her artistic predecessors, as well as to Cayman’s rich tropical landscapes. Viewed collectively, Azure Dreams chronicled significant experiences in the artist’s life and the emotions that shaped them —aspects of her work that audiences were left to interpret freely but which are also clearly apparent in the shimmering surfaces of her paintings.
