Exhibition
The National Gallery was delighted to introduce a survey of Ceramics with a display of delicate and rare pieces from around the world. The exhibition displayed historically important wares from The Belvedere Collection (United Kingdom) as well as contemporary works by artists well established in Europe, South Africa, and the Cayman Islands. Pieces displayed ranged from the traditional thrown vessels to unexpected and surprising sculptural forms.
This exhibition, which has been made possible by The London and Amsterdam Trust Company Limited and Butterfield, was supported by a busy education schedule that included ceramic workshops for children and adults, documentaries retracing the history of ceramics, a “Family Fun Day”, a late-night viewing, special lectures, and a free school programmes that featured interactive gallery tours and hands-on ceramics activities.
This exhibition was curated by Natalie Urquhart and Emérentienne Paschalides.
