Exhibition
Native Sons: Fahive was the fifth group exhibition of work by the Native Sons artist collective. Formed in 1996, The Native Sons was the initiative of founding members Wray Banker, Al Ebanks, Anthony Ramoon and Miguel Powery, who first exhibited collectively at the Harquail Theatre in February that year. In the years that followed the group doubled in size and its members—which include Randy Chollette, Nickola McCoy-Snell, Nasaria Suckoo Chollette, Horacio Esteban, and Chirs Christian—are now recognised as among the most respected and prolific artists in the Cayman Islands. The artwork selected for this exhibition illustrated a survey of works from the group’s inauguration to the present. Encompassing a diverse selection of themes and mediums executed through a wide variety of genres – ranging from realist and impressionist to abstract and conceptual – the featured works collectively explored the universal ideals of the Native Sons and their unique artistic vision. Native Sons: Fahive was on view at the National Gallery from 12 August-25 October 2005.
