Exhibition
This project is conceived as a collaboration between the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands (NGCI), Compass Media and Dart, highlighting historic images from the TimeBack archive project, within the context of a physical exhibition in the Gallery’s Lower Exhibition Hall.
Drawing on decades of imagery captured by past Cayman Compass photographers, Compass Media and Dart have scanned and digitised more than 300,000 photographic negatives from the Compass archive. Offering a prominent platform through which to present this treasure trove of photographs to the Caymanian public, the exhibition is conceived as a collective memory project and an opportunity to relive Cayman’s past through this unparalleled collection.
Providing an opportunity for visitors to access and engage with these photographs in dynamic ways, TimeBack illustrates the wider story of the Cayman Islands and its people, documenting the tangible and intangible aspects of Cayman’s unique identity and cultural heritage.
