Exhibition
This exhibition presented a small compilation of works created by National Gallery outreach participants under the guidance of the Gallery’s Education and Outreach Coordinator and programme instructors. At the time, the Gallery facilitated eight Art Outreach Programmes, with participants ranging in age from 13 – 60. The resulting exhibit was an eclectic display of contemporary street art murals painted on large wooden boards, featuring imagery that explored a variety of personal and universal issues. The thematic focus of ‘Street Art’ provided an uninhibited outlet through which emerging artists were able to process their feeling and bring awareness to social justice concerns.
A key priority of the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands continues to be that of ensuring the organisation provides accessible experiences for the public, creating a welcoming environment that is inclusive and responsive to the needs of our audiences. Our outreach programming enables us to maintain a vital link to our community’s most vulnerable individuals, as well as those who are not ordinarily able to visit NGCI’s physical site or take advantage of its educational resources. Accounting for a large part of the Gallery’s annual output, these classes are made available at no cost through the generosity of donors and sponsors.
