Exhibition
In 2012 the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands (NGCI) had the honour of presenting the inaugural sculptural exhibition in the Deutsche Bank Sculpture Garden at NGCI, which highlighted works by artist David Jungquist from the collection of Susan A. Olde, OBE. The Deutsche Bank Sculpture Garden is the National Gallery’s “outdoor art gallery”, the first in the Cayman Islands, and it provides a distinctive setting for permanent sculptural displays along with rotating works by local artists.
Of his own work, Jungquist says, “My sculpture from year to year is a mystery to me. I do not want to know what I will create a year from now. My life has always been one of amazement and surprise. I would like to see that reflected in my work. My love of sculpture is the process: the act of doing.”
